WHAT WE DO
BlackShip is a venture builder that partners with US companies to create successful businesses in Japan. We identify companies that have a high potential for success in the Japan market and help to drive their Japan Entry. We strive to introduce and grow companies in Japan that will result in positive social impact.
MISSION
Following a 200 year period of isolationism, Japan was opened up to the rest of the world in 1853 by Commodore Perry’s Black Ships. Considered to be one of the most impactful events in changing the course of Japan’s history, the Black Ships effectively broke the barrier to Japan that had prevented trade and political cooperation with the Western world for over two centuries. Commodore Perry’s endeavors resulted in the introduction of Western technologies to Japan, which in turn catalyzed the country’s move towards modernization.
Fast forward another 150+ years, and the mission of BLACKSHIP VENTURES is not so different.
